An Hour on Campus: The Writing Center
The Writing Center is open to the entire university community, including faculty and staff, to help with any kind of writing. Did you know that you can go abroad over spring break or in the summer of your first year? UNL Faculty-Led programs are popular among first-year students, giving you the chance to connect with fellow UNL students and faculty/staff.
New this year, we are introducing an interactive communication and “program-matching” tool just for first-year students. We would love for you to try it out before the Open House:
1. Create a user profile (By registering on this website on the right hand side of your screen). This will take less than 10 minutes. We promise.
2. Get matched with UNL Faculty-Led programs, depending on your goals, interests, and preferences.
3. Didn’t find a perfect fit among the Faculty-Led programs? Our program search tool on our website: educationabroad.unl.edu offers a comprehensive list of over 500 programs.
4. Check out the $2,000 Early Abroad Scholarship for first- and second-year students. Next deadline is February 1.

Fall career fairs set for arena, campus locations
More than 1,000 representatives from 364 employers are expected to attend the Fall Career Fairs on Sept. 28 and 29.

Among the employers are several new to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln fairs, including Alliant Engineering, C.H. Robinson, AgriVision Farm Management, Farmer, Lumpe, and McClelland (FLM+), Hanover Re and Spring Branch Independent School District.
The Business and Liberal Arts fair is Sept. 28 and the STEM fair is Sept. 29. Both are at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Career Services said it anticipates a record high for employer attendance at the STEM fair, which will feature nearly 200 registered employers compared with last year's 158.
Career Services will also host an Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources fair Sept. 27 in the East Campus Union; an Actuarial Science fair Oct. 3 and Education Fair Oct. 20) in the Nebraska Union. -

December grads must apply by Sept. 30
All University of Nebraska-Lincoln students planning to graduate in December 2016 must submit an application for graduation via their MyRED academics tab by Sept. 30.

Students will be billed $25 per degree on their student account. Failure to submit a timely application may preclude the awarding of a degree in the intended term.
The application and required fee are good only for the term marked on the application. Neither the application nor the fee is transferrable to another term.
Students who submit an application and pay the fee for a specified term, but do not complete degree requirements in that term, will need to reapply to graduate in a future term and incur another $25 per-degree fee.
Commencement ceremony information will be emailed to all degree applicants about one month before graduation.
The graduate college commencement ceremony will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The undergraduate commencement ceremony will be at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. -

Lied Center hosts 16 free events for students.
The Arts for All Campaign put on by the Lied Center, allows University of Nebraska students to see select shows with no cost to them. There will be seven shows in the fall and nine shows in the spring that are free to students.
