STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR MARINE CORPS LEAGUE EDUCATIONAL
GRANTS
Dear Student,
The Fremont Area Marine Corps League Detachment 1275 will be awarding
educational assistance grants to active duty, reserve, or retired Marines and former
Marines, and Navy Hospital Corpsmen or Navy Chaplains who served with the Fleet
Marine Force, as well as their current spouses, children, or stepchildren. Grants will
be awarded for the 2016-17 academic year. This letter contains information on
qualifying for a Marine Corps League Detachment 1275 grant and provides instructions
on the application process.
The Detachment 1275 educational assistance grants are not competitive. Any
student who meets the eligibility requirements listed below can receive up to $500 for
attending as a full-time student in an accredited Nebraska public or private 4-year
college or in a 2-year vocational school within the Nebraska Community College
system. Grants may be used for tuition, college fees, books or materials purchased
through a college account, or campus housing payments through a college account.
Payment will be made jointly to the student and college.
Detachment 1275 educational grants will be awarded so long as the Detachment
has foundation funds available. We estimate being able to award 20 grants for the
2016-17 academic year. If funds remain after the first semester grants are awarded,
students may apply for a grant for the second semester.
Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until the funds are
depleted so it is important for you to get your grant applications to us as soon as
possible. We recognize that you may not be able to document enrollment eligibility
until late summer. However, we encourage you to send your application to us this
spring to establish your residence and relationship eligibility and first-come, firstserved
position, and then send us the enrollment documentation when it becomes
available in the summer. Checks will be issued near the start of the 2016-17 academic
year.
