he Center for Academic Success and Transition will host its annual Open House from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 31 in Room 110 of Love Library South.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to meet CAST academic success coaches and learn how the center helps students strengthen academic skills, navigate the transition to college and build strategies for success at Nebraska.
Faculty and staff can also learn more about CAST services and how to connect students with academic support throughout the year.
During the 2025-26 academic year, CAST provided more than 2,700 academic success coaching appointments, the highest total in the office’s history.
“One of the things we’ve learned over the past several years is that students aren’t just looking for academic advice — they’re looking for someone in their corner,” said Rob Russell, CAST director. “Whether they’re trying to strengthen their academic skills, navigate the transition to college, or simply talk through a challenge, we want students to know there’s a place on campus that’s here to support them.”
The Open House also will feature CAST-A-LICIOUS, a raspberry chocolate chip ice cream flavor created in partnership with the UNL Dairy Store. Visitors can enjoy a free scoop while learning about CAST resources and services.
The event is free and open to the campus community.
