Jen McKie serves as the Assistant Director of the Military and Veterans Success Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

After relocating to Lincoln from the San Francisco Bay Area, McKie was drawn to UNL because of the opportunity to continue serving the military-connected community. She is passionate about supporting veterans, military-connected students and their families by helping them achieve their personal, academic and career goals. 

Prior to coming to UNL, McKie served 27 years in the United States Army Reserve in a variety of positions, including Dental Specialist, Human Resources Specialist, Executive Administrative Assistant, Career Counselor and Force Management NCO. She deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2007-08 and completed multiple tours on Active Duty for Operational Support to the Reserve Component. 

McKie also spent 14 years as a Department of the Army Civilian for the Army Reserve as a Human Resources leader. In her final assignment, she served as the G-1 Yellow Ribbon Program Manager at the 63d Readiness Division, supporting soldiers and their families in the Southwestern United States.

McKie and her husband, Patrick, have two daughters who reside in California. Their daughter Abby earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and currently works as a research assistant at SC Labs in Santa Cruz. Their daughter Ashley is completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at San José State University. 

Patrick, a Lincoln native and UNL alumnus, served nearly 36 years in the U.S. Army before retiring in 2024.

Outside of work, McKie enjoys spending time with Patrick and their two dogs, Maggie and Betty, watching movies and shows, taking long walks and staying active at the gym.
