campus in the fall

We’re Half Way There

As November arrives and the semester begins to wind down, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate our Military & Veteran Success Center community here at UNL. This month brings reflection, gratitude, and connection. A time to honor the services and sacrifices of our veterans and military affiliated students. As we observe Veterans Day and look ahead into the season, we are reminded of the strength, resilience, and dedication that each of you bring to campus. Whether you’re finishing projects, preparing for finals, or taking time to rest and recharge, know that we’re here to support you and are grateful for all you contribute to our community.

National Roll Call

Since 2013, the University of Nebraska Lincoln has participated in a Veterans Day event called the National Roll Call to honor our service men and women from the state of Nebraska who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Please join us for all or a portion of the National Roll Call. It will be held on Veterans Day –Tuesday, November 11 in the Platte River Room of the Nebraska Union starting at 12:45 pm with the presentation of colors by the ROTC Joint Color Guard, national anthem and opening remarks.

At 1:00 pm there will be a moment of silence in remembrance of those we have lost.

After the moment of silence, the Military & Veteran Success Center (MVSC) coordinates students, staff, faculty, members of ROTC, the Nebraska National Guard and the veteran community to be Readers of the names of those killed in action (KIA) from WWI until the present-day conflict.

The National Roll Call will take about 4 and half hours to read the nearly 5,000 names of those KIA who called Nebraska home. There will be a short closing ceremony to end the National Roll Call.
