Welcome Heroes Into Homes - Lincoln, Nebraska
Heroes Into Homes is a nonprofit Veteran service organization that helps homeless Veterans into homes. Working directly with the VA and VA HUD/VASH counselors in Lincoln Nebraska in a coordinated effort between many other organizations, Heroes Into Homes has a goal to supply new and gently used furnishings and everything needed to turn an empty apartment into a home in the new 70 room apartment complex that is currently under construction at the VA campus.

Nebraska, Iowa Students Raise Awareness of Veteran Suicide
Student veterans from Nebraska and Iowa have joined together in a nine-day march to raise awareness of veteran suicide ahead of a football game between the two universities.
The student veteran organizations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Iowa organized the 347-mile march from Iowa City, Iowa to Lincoln, Nebraska. .
The groups hope to bring attention to the problem of veteran suicide. Studies show that about 20 veterans die by suicide every day.

Huskers, Hawkeyes Team Up For Veteran Suicide Awareness
Huskers and Hawkeyes are again hitting the pavement to raise awareness about veteran suicides.

Organized by student veteran organizations at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and University of Iowa, more than 200 volunteers walked a ceremonial football to the Huskers’ Memorial Stadium for the Nov. 23 game between the Big Ten institutions. The Things They Carry Ruck March, having started at Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium on Nov. 17, will traverse 344 miles.

2017 Iowa - Nebraska Ruck March
The University of Iowa Veterans Association and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Veteran Organization are teaming up to raise awareness for US Military Veteran Suicide.While these two schools rival when it comes to football they have come together for a bigger cause.

The military Veteran students will coordinate a ruck march of the game ball from Kinnick Stadium 347 miles to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska, for the November 24th Cornhusker vs. Hawkeye football game.
Our Ruckers will be carrying 20 lbs to honor the 20 Veterans who take their own lives every day. The 20 lbs will be comprised of personal belongings of the volunteer ruck marchers. These belongings will hold personal significance to their military experiences, or honor the service of friends or family.
The 347 mile ruck march will kicked off on Wednesday, November 15th, 2017. Team Iowa will hand off the game ball to Team Nebraska on Sunday, November 19th at Freedom Rock 1199 IA-25 Menlo, Iowa
